Tonight at 5:00pm is our annual Paradise Park night in Lee's Summit. There are prizes for the class with the most in attendance, so if you're looking for something to do, head to Paradise Park! I'll see you there!
In Friday Folders tonight, students will be bringing home the first progress report. If your child has a 'D' or an 'F,' it requires a parent signature and must be returned to school on Monday. This ensures that you and your student are aware that he/she needs to see me to get missing assignments, or make sure to turn in future assignments. If you have questions about progress reports, please just let me know.
Spirit Week for Homecoming is next week. Students are encouraged to dress up for the following days:
Monday: Pajama Day-wear your favorite pajamas
Tuesday: Rush Hour in the City-mismatch day & crazy hair
Wednesday: Back in the Day-fashion from the 70s-90s
Thursday: Destination Vacation-dress like you are at your favorite vacation spot
Friday: Spirit Day-wear your Pirate gear
This is a fun time in the school year when we can show our Pirate Pride!
Remember that Reading Logs should be completed each week. This is for reading the student completes outside of school.
Spelling contracts are also assigned each week and due on Fridays. If your child misses a word on the spelling test, the word will be reassigned to him/her so you may see repeats each week. This is to ensure that students are mastering the spelling word before moving on to others. I am still working out a few kinks in this, but so far, the students are doing very well!
The class finished their Scientific Inquiry projects and presented them to the class on Tuesday and Wednesday. We will be starting classification this Monday.
This Monday we are moving forward with long division, and will spend quite a bit of time on this. Look for another flipped lesson on Tuesday or Wednesday night.
In writer's workshop, students are beginning their memoirs, which will actually be published as a book for only $1. More information will be coming home about this at a later date!
See you tonight at Paradise Park!
