Progress reports are coming home in Friday Folders today. The same standard applies as before. If your child has a D or F it has been highlighted and must be signed by a parent and returned to school on Tuesday.
Speaking of Tuesday...we do not have school on Monday because of President's Day!
Students have just finished up a unit on measurement in Math and we will be moving to geometry next week. In Reader's Workshop, students are finishing using non-fiction skills and strategies to gain a deeper understanding, and we will be focusing on inferring and evaluating accuracy of information next week. In Writer's Workshop, students are finishing up scenes for an American Revolutionary War skit (due Friday the 22nd). This project will count for this month's book project. In Science, students are finished with weather and are working on space.
I do want to restate that Reading Logs go home each Friday and are due the following Friday morning. These are for a grade, and many students have not returned even one all quarter long! If you have questions about where to find these on the website, or how to use them, please let me know!
Our class has set a goal to be more positive and so we are giving out more compliments to one another and working to solve problems. Our class will be taking the final Acuity test (Acuity C) in the next few weeks, and has set another goal to raise the number of students who score Proficient and Advanced.
I'm accepting donations of clean black or dark socks if you have spares to use as dry erase marker erasers. Send them in with your student!
Have a great long weekend!
